Guess what's new on the farm? Once
again we have teamed up with Steve Kruzich and now have honey bees. Get on
a list for 100% pure all natural honey. We're just getting started but you
will be able to see us on the web at: http://www.osagehillsapiary.com
About US
In Remembrance of our sweet little angel Ember Patience
born to us on February 20, 2009 at 8:15am and taken home to be with the Lord on
May 23, 2009 at 9:15pm.
We so grieve for our loss, but am confidant that we will be with her again some
day. We all love you Ember!
6E Farm is a small, but ever growing, Christian family farm nestled in
the flint hills of SE Kansas run by my
husband and I along with our 5 children. We've only been out here 4 years,
but we love it and hope that our children learn to love it as much as we do.
Our main goal is to follow wherever the Lord might lead us as we go on this
venture and we pray and move along as we feel He's leading us.
We are striving to become a self sufficient farm, to raise most of our own
meat and eggs and produce from the family garden. Our ideal goal would be
to become totally independent, to get off grid, but we know that may never be
totally possible, but we strive to become that way as much as possible.
What We Raise
Our primary focus is our dairy goats. We have a small but ever growing
herd of mixed breed dairy goats consisting of Alpine, Oberhasli, LaMancha,
Nubian and Saneen. All of our goats are registered with the ADGA.
We do offer goat and cow milk for orphaned animal feed. Cheaper and
better accepted by bottle baby animals.
We also raise chickens. We have a mixed laying flock consisting of Buff
Orpingtons, Welsummers and Light Brahma's. On the purebred side I'm
currently working on Blue Copper Marans and mixed colors of Large
Cochins.
On the side we have mixed breed meat rabbits, a few pigs, Muscovie ducks and
a milk cow.
I am trying to get going on soap and candle making, but as with all things,
time always seems to be a factor. I also
love to create bead jewelry with an emphasis on mothers bracelets and
watches. All jewelry is made with gold filled and sterling silver along
with either genuine stones or crystals. Plastic, brass or painted metal is
never used unless noted. I am also learning how to work with wood
and that's actually been a lot of fun. Check the farm store for what is
available.
Our Plans For The Future
Besides offering hatching eggs for rare breed chickens, we hope to offer
honey and other farm products at the farmers markets this summer.
I was working on a farm newsletter to let people know what was going on, but
this past year has been soo hectic and has had so many unexpected things come up
that I just haven't had the time to work on it. I hope to get back to it
and my blog soon.
Thank you for
visiting, we hope you come back soon!
